The Space Between
What happens between wanting connection
and protecting yourself from it?
A supportive space to explore attachment, complex trauma, and the patterns that can make connection feel complicated.
Applying doesn't commit you to joining.
Maybe this feels familiar.
You want closeness, but sometimes when someone actually gets close, something in you starts looking for distance.
You notice the smallest change in someone's tone and immediately wonder if something is wrong.
You replay conversations, wondering whether you said too much, too little, or the wrong thing.
You want reassurance, but another part of you hates needing reassurance at all.
You pull away when you're hurt instead of explaining what happened.
You're fiercely independent, while another part of you wishes someone would notice that you need them.
Or maybe you can't quite explain the pattern.
You just know relationships sometimes bring up more than you expect.
You don't have to
tell your trauma story.
Understanding ourselves doesn't require sharing every painful thing that has happened to us.
Much of our work will focus on what happens now.
When someone doesn't respond.
When you feel misunderstood.
When you need something.
When someone is disappointed in you.
When you want to say no.
When closeness suddenly feels like too much.
You choose what you share. There is no expectation that you disclose specific traumatic experiences.
Getting curious,
one layer at a time.
Each week explores a different part of what can happen between us and the people we care about.
We'll begin noticing your patterns around closeness, distance, conflict, reassurance, vulnerability and needs without trying to fit you neatly into an attachment category.
YOU'LL BEGIN Your personal Map of Connection.
We'll explore some of the messages and experiences that may have shaped how you approach connection today.
What happened when you needed comfort? Asked for help? Were upset? Made a mistake? Needed someone?
The goal isn't to analyze your entire childhood. It's to become curious about what you learned.
We'll explore reassurance seeking, overexplaining, people pleasing, replaying interactions, watching other people's moods and feeling responsible for keeping relationships okay.
Instead of judging those responses, we'll get curious about what they're trying to prevent.
Pulling away. Going quiet. Feeling numb. Becoming fiercely independent. Struggling to receive support. Wanting connection until it actually arrives.
We'll explore the parts of us that create distance and what that distance may provide.
A text that feels different. A facial expression. Someone becoming quiet. Criticism. Feeling left out. A disagreement. Being misunderstood.
We'll slow these moments down and explore the difference between what happened and what we understood it to mean.
The part that leaves. The part that holds on. The part that doesn't need anyone. The part that performs. The part that gets angry. The part that goes quiet.
What is this trying to protect me from?
We'll explore needs, boundaries, disappointment, saying no, hearing no, misunderstanding and repair.
What does it look like to remain connected to another person while also remaining connected to yourself?
We'll bring the eight weeks together as you complete your personal Map of Connection.
The goal isn't perfect relationships. It's leaving knowing yourself inside them a little better.
Small enough
for actual
conversation.

You don't need a diagnosis.
You don't need to know whether you're anxious, avoidant, disorganized or secure.
You don't even need to know whether what you've experienced “counts” as trauma.
You just need some curiosity about the patterns that show up when you're close to other people.
A few things
you might be
wondering.
No. We'll draw from ideas related to attachment and complex trauma, but you do not need a particular diagnosis to participate.
No. We'll spend less time trying to decide which category you belong in and more time noticing what actually happens for you in different relationships.
No. You decide what you share. There is no expectation that participants disclose specific traumatic experiences.
The Space Between is a supportive, educational and exploratory group. It includes education, guided reflection, discussion and experiential exercises around attachment and relationship patterns. It is not a replacement for individual mental health treatment when that level of care is needed.
You won't be expected to walk into the first meeting and immediately share personal information. The group is intentionally limited to six participants so there is room to settle in, listen and participate at a thoughtful pace.
Your enrollment reserves one of only six places for the entire eight-week series. Because that place cannot be filled week to week, missed sessions are still charged.
Everyone will be asked to agree to clear privacy expectations before the group begins. Because other participants are not under the same professional confidentiality obligations as a licensed clinician, complete confidentiality by another participant cannot be guaranteed.
No. Group meetings will not be recorded.
Let's make sure it
feels like a fit.
