FAQs
Trauma & Sex Therapy in New York – Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide trauma therapy in New York?
Yes. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing trauma-informed psychotherapy in New York under clinical supervision in accordance with state regulations.
I work with adults navigating the long-term effects of trauma, including emotional overwhelm, shame, high-functioning burnout, addiction patterns, self-harm, and intimacy concerns. Therapy is available via telehealth throughout New York State.
What does trauma-informed therapy mean?
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes that many symptoms — anxiety, shutdown, compulsive behaviors, emotional numbness — developed as protection.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we explore, “What happened — and how did your system learn to cope?”
My approach is relational, attachment-informed, and grounded in parts-based perspectives. We move at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.
Do you offer sex therapy in New York?
Yes. I provide trauma-informed sex therapy for adults in New York.
Sex therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing:
Anxiety or shutdown during intimacy
Shame connected to sexuality
Difficulty feeling present in your body
Sexual trauma history
Disconnection within marriage or partnership
Sex therapy in my practice is not about performance or technique. It is about safety, nervous system regulation, communication, and rebuilding trust with your body and relationships.
Do you work with sexual trauma?
Yes. Sexual trauma therapy is a significant part of my work.
Sexual trauma can affect identity, spirituality, marriage, and emotional safety — sometimes long after the original experience.
In therapy, we focus on restoring safety and agency. Healing happens gradually, without pressure or force.
Do you accept insurance in New York?
Yes. I accept select New York insurance plans for clinical psychotherapy services.
If you are unsure whether your plan is accepted, you are welcome to reach out to verify benefits and availability.
Do you offer private pay sessions?
Yes. I work with both insurance and private pay clients in New York.
Some individuals prefer private pay for added flexibility or privacy. If you are interested in private pay therapy, we can discuss fees and scheduling options during a consultation.
Do you provide therapy in New Jersey?

What issues do you commonly treat?
I work with adults experiencing:
Trauma and complex trauma
Addiction or compulsive behaviors
Self-harm
Sexual or intimacy difficulties
Shame-based patterns
High external functioning with internal distress
Many of the individuals I work with appear capable and successful on the outside, yet feel disconnected or overwhelmed internally.
